Our daughter, Stella, has been attending classes with NOD for 3 years, once a week for an hour and a half each week. We were referred to NOD by a mutual friend who had sent her child there for assessment. We first noticed that Stella was really struggling with spelling, reading and writing even short words and sentences in Primary 1. She also struggled with having to learn 3 different languages in a public Chinese school. Following consultation and assessment with Dr Mullai, she was diagnosed as being moderately dyslexic. But Dr said that she was very intelligent from the brain games that she did and that she will learn fast. We saw the gradual improvement of Stella. In a year, Stella improved very much in her phonics which helped in her reading, writing and spelling, and Dr was very particular about articulation of words bec that will lead to right spelling. My husband and I would see Stella breaking up words by drawing lines in between and then putting the syllables together to say the word. She has come a long way from where she was and now reads confidently, and is able to pronounce and spell long words. Now she can her construct sentences and writes essays in good English which is remarkable. We changed her school on Dr’s advice 2 years ago bec she said coping with 3 languages is daunting for a dyslexic child so we registered her in an English medium school. Her performance in school is so good that the school does not even know she had difficulties. We are impressed with the dedication and teaching approach of the center and encourage other parents of dyslexic children to seek NOD’s help.
